My favorite English language source for analysis of Taiwan’s elections from a political science perspective is the Frozen Garlic blog. The writer, Nathan Batto, is an Associate Research Fellow at the Institute of Political Science, Academia Sinica and Jointly Appointed Associate Research Fellow at National Chengchi University’s Election Study Center. He is a brilliant analyst, a terrific scholar, and a really fun person. He also has a prodigious collection of Taiwanese election swag. Nathan named his blog “Frozen Garlic” because the phrase is a Taiwanese homophone for “Get Elected!” and is what people shout at political rallies.
